Derek Fisher is an American professional basketball coach and former player. He played college basketball for the ‘Arkansas–Little Rock Trojans’. In 1996, he won the ‘Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year Award’. He was selected by the Lakers with the 24th pick in the 1996 NBA draft.

 

Fisher spent his first eight seasons with the franchise winning three consecutive league championships. After the 2003–04 NBA season, he signed as a free agent with the ‘Golden State Warriors’. Later being traded to the ‘Utah Jazz’. He rejoined the Lakers and won two more NBA titles.

 

In 2012, he was traded to the ‘Houston Rockets’. But was waived at his request. Fisher then joined the ‘Oklahoma City Thunder’ playing for the 2012 NBA championship in his eighth Finals appearance. He has also served as president of the ‘National Basketball Players Association’ (NBPA). He was the head coach of the ‘Los Angeles Sparks’ of the Women’s National Basketball Association (WNBA) from 2019 to 2022. Fisher played for 18 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA).

 

He is known as the all-time NBA record holder in playoff games played.
